History

During the early part of the 18th century, adventurous settlers from Taal, northern Mindoro and southern Cavite were attracted to the vast plain near the shores of Balayan Bay because of its abundance in fish and other marine life. Salting and drying fish became their major occupation due to the great demand of salted and dried fish by the people of Cavite, MindoroLaguna and Batangas. People came in great numbers to join the settlers, and the village became populous. The place was first called Punta, meaning “point”. In 1818, the village of Punta was converted into one of the barrios of the Municipality of Taal. It was later renamed San Geronimo.

In 1858, the barrio of San Geronimo became officially known as Lemery.

In 1862, Lemery and its surrounding barrios were separated from the Municipality of Taal. It became a district municipality thru the efforts of Candida Cesario Valenzuela, Manuel Cabrera, Policarpio Mariño and Domingo Agoncillo. Jose Cabrera became the First Gobernadorcillo of the newly created town. For economic considerations, Lemery was again annexed to Taal in 1904. Finally by virtue of Executive Order 1549 of the Philippine Civil Commission, it became an independent municipality in 1907.

FANTASY WORLD: Abandoned Theme Park in Batangas Travel Guide 2018

The whole class was so excited when the rumor that a version of Disneyland would be built not too far from our school. My body was a big sack of glee just imagining a huge castle surrounded by a theme park in the foothills of our town. “But don’t get too excited,” our teacher said. “It will take years to finish.”

She was right. That was 20 years ago. To this day, Fantasy World, our town’s very own “Disneyland”, remains unfinished.

CML Beach Resort & Water Park

The pools were not that big but were clean. There were two (2) pools, one near the hotel building (entrance) and the other at the back (near the beach). They had other pool features which was great for kids. These features are in a rubber type (not slippery) mat which is safe for kids to play around in.

We took the Cabana Cottages which I have forgotten how much but they were reasonably priced. we just wish they have offered larger cottages for larger groups like family or friends. One cabana was just good enough for 5 persons.

You can bring food but they have corkage fees. They have a small canteen and cafe within the resort but it’s quite pricey.

We didn’t spend much at the beach because it was dirty and full of other customers from other nearby resorts.

It was okay. Quite overrated if you’d ask me. It’s not the “wow” resort but its better than the other nearby resorts in the area.
